Description

An expanding Construction company based in North Kent is looking to hire an Assistant Accountant to join them permanently.  This role involves working 5 days per week in the office.  This role offers a career path to become a Finance Manager for the right person. You will report to the Head of Finance and work in a small finance team.


Responsibilities of the Assistant Accountant Role:-


  • Lead on the Credit Control duties for the business including, chasing outstanding debts by telephone and email, reducing DSO days, producing credit reports, and build long-term relationships with the company's clients

  • Oversee the sales and purchase ledger, including month-end reconciliations
  • Liaising with suppliers to discuss payment terms
  • Process payroll
  • Chasing overdue invoices and weekly aged debtor analysis
  • Project budgeting 
  • Profit and loss, accruals and prepayments
  • Detailed cashflow analysis ensuring that the Head of Finance is aware of any potential debts
  • Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare and review budgets keeping tight control of cost

Requirements of the Assistant Accountant Role:-


  • Experience working in the construction sector
  • SME background
  • Hands-on, posting journals and reconciling accounts
  • Excellent communication skills
  • First-rate MS Excel skills
