Credit Controller Recruitment Agency
In order for a business to maintain healthy balance sheets, it is vital that outstanding invoices are paid in a timely fashion. This is one of the primary responsibilities of the Credit Controller, but not the only one. The Credit Controller is also typically responsible for conducting credit checks on customers, reconciling month-end accounts, monitoring debt balances, and overseeing the collection of customer accounts in a way that promotes customer retention. JMF Associates provide Credit Controller recruitment that ensures the right people are matched with the businesses that need them.
Credit Controller Responsibilities
The Credit Controller has a wide variety of duties and responsibilities all aimed at making sure the provider and their customers maintain agreeable, productive relationships. Those responsibilities include:
• Establishing policies that adhere to customer service best practices.
• Ensuring customer cooperation with payment deadlines.
• Approving or denying customer credit applications.
• Negotiating payment plans with customers including setting repayment conditions.
• Working with sales, finance and executive team members to develop a credit control system.
• Monitoring and analysing the effectiveness of said system and implementing necessary changes.
• Following up on overdue invoices and implementing collection procedures if necessary.
• Preparing reports and supervising members of the collections staff.
• Conducting credit reviews, making credit recommendations and resolving credit disputes.
• Ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations related to credit, fraud and collections.
• Managing the account reconciliation process.
• Coordinating the preparation of annual financial statements and tax returns.
• Maintaining customer and vendor information in compliance with GDPR regulations.
The fact that we could go on with this list of responsibilities indicates the importance of the Credit Controller to the smooth financial operation of an organisation.
Skills of the Credit Controller
Typically we want candidates to have a minimum of 5 years' experience working with accounts receivable or an associated credit-related position. Beyond their degree and experience, the successful Credit Controller recruit will exhibit all of the following qualities:
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• An ability to deal with a variety of stakeholders.
• Attention to detail along with strong analytical skills.
• The ability to prioritise in a productive fashion.
• Outstanding time management skills.
• Competency with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Comprehensive understanding of the purchase order process.
• Ability to organise a heavy workload.
• Ability to work to deadlines.
• An understanding of the legal issues regarding credit, loans and payment plans.
• Proficiency in all relevant accounting and office software applications.
• Ability to deal effectively with problematic clients.
Credit Controller Salary
The salary the Credit Controller commands will depend on a variety of factors, including but not necessarily limited to:
• The type of business: The in-house Credit Controller will likely earn more in the banking sector than they would working for an NGO or charity. Salaries paid by debt collection agencies also tend to vary widely.
• The size of the business: Although there are exceptions the general rule is that the larger the business or organisation the larger the salary.
• Experience and location: An experienced Credit Controller in central London will earn more than an inexperienced Credit Controller in Croydon or a similar location.
Keep in mind too that benefit packages may vary considerably depending on experience level and location.
